Hi, I'm Gabby—the creator behind Fabric Junky.

What started as a simple love of fabric has grown into something much bigger: a journey to discover the hidden fabric shops, inspiring makers, and creative communities that make every destination unique.

I believe some of the best adventures begin with curiosity. Sometimes that adventure is finding a charming neighborhood quilt shop just a few miles from home. Other times it's taking the scenic route on a road trip, wandering through an unfamiliar city, or dreaming about the fabric markets and textile traditions waiting to be explored around the world.

No matter where the journey leads, there's always another beautiful fabric find waiting to be discovered.

That's what Fabric Junky is all about.

Collected & Crafted

One of my favorite parts of every fabric adventure is discovering the unexpected.

Tucked away on a shelf or hidden in a remnant bin, I'll often find beautiful fabrics that are too special to leave behind. I bring those treasures home, where they become the inspiration for Collected & Crafted—my collection of handcrafted, small-batch pieces.

Every item begins as a fabric find discovered during one of my adventures.

Each piece is thoughtfully sewn in small quantities using carefully selected remnants and unique textiles that I collect along the way. Because these fabrics are often limited, every creation is truly one of a kind.

When you purchase something from the Collected & Crafted collection, you're not just buying something handmade.

You're taking home a small piece of the journey that inspired it.

Georgia

Fine Fabrics Commerce, Georgia

Fine Fabrics is a garment maker’s dream, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable. You could spend hours here imagining future projects, so I recommend arriving with a clear list of what you need. Otherwise, it’s very easy to get swept away by all the inspiration.

North Carolina

The Scrap Exchange Durham, North Carolina

Similar to other creative reuse centers, such as Seattle Recreative, The Scrap Exchange is much more than a fabric store. This large warehouse is filled with donated materials for all kinds of creative projects. During my visit, I found a sizable upholstery section along with bins of fabric remnants. There are worthwhile fabric finds here if you love the hunt, but I wouldn’t make it your only stop if you’re looking for something specific.

Pacific Fabrics Washington

A large fabric destination with apparel fabrics, quilting cottons, notions, and plenty to explore for different kinds of sewing projects.

A thoughtfully curated local fabric shop filled with fabrics, sewing supplies, and creative inspiration in an approachable, neighborhood setting.

Seattle Recreative Seattle, Washington

Seattle Recreative is a creative reuse center rather than a traditional fabric shop, so its fabric selection can be unpredictable. If you enjoy discovering whatever happens to be available, it can be a fun bonus stop. If you’re shopping for a specific fabric project, I wouldn’t make it your only destination.

Japan

Tokyo

Tomato Fabrics Nippori, Tokyo

Located in Nippori, Tokyo’s fabric district, this multi-level store is a destination all on its own. Each floor caters to different sewing and garment-making needs, from playful quilting cottons to faux fur, specialty apparel fabrics, and notions. You may want to set aside a few hours to explore—just remember that purchases must be paid for on their designated floor before moving on.
